Project by: Enactus KMC Funding Required: INR 35,000 Here’s what folks at Enactus KMC have to say about this project.

Plastic is omnipresent. Its non-biodegradable nature has led to immense problems for the delicate ecology of the earth. Life itself is threatened- all because of man’s insatiable greed and need to conquer nature.

Enactus KiroriMal’s second project in its relentless pursuit of social change is Project Patradya. As evident by the adopted nomenclature, the project aims to produce edible cutlery in an attempt to tackle the gargantuan mountain of plastic waste that we have dumped on this planet till date. Through Patradya, we aim to reduce this absurd dependency on plastic and make man accountable in leaving behind a stable environment for future generations.

We make bowls out of everyday grain- making our kitchenware not only biodegradable, but also edible! This ingenious solution to everyday problems was put into motion in April 2016, and since then, we haven’t looked back. Through this project, we not only hope to resolve the problem of mounting carcinogenic waste, but also to provide employment and rehabilitation to displaced Afghan refugees in the Bhogul district of Delhi. The impact of this project is widespread- economic, social, environmental, and entrepreneurial. Patradya is an enduring flame- one that is self-sustaining and whose warmth spreads to so many associated with it.

The amount raised shall be used to expand the workings of the project, provide a regular income to the community and the research and development for diversification of the product.
